Im not sure if this is an iOS 10 thing or an iPhone 7 thing, but it's driving me nuts. When I'm at the office I hotspot from my iPad mini 4 (in my bag) to my 12" rMB throughout the day. When I'm doing that, the hotspot indicator appears on my iPhone 7. Not the blue bar across the top, just the indicator where it normally says LTE, 3G, etc.

First question: Is it supposed to be doing that? Is it a new "feature" of iOS 10, because that never used to happen before with my 6S.

Second question: How do I get it to go away?! After I disconnect the rMB from the iPad, its still there. I turn off hotspot on the phone and it's still there. My entire drive home it's still there until I get home and it turns to the wifi indicator.

I don't understand why the phone is showing this when it's not connected to either device and hotspot is turned off on the phone.

What exactly is the hotspot "indicator where it normally says LTE, 3G, etc."?

I finally figured it out! The MacBook and the iPhone were connected to the iPad hotspot at the same time. Since wifi network settings are stored in iCloud Keychain now, the iPhone is automatically connecting to the iPad. Solution was to go into wifi settings on the phone and select Forget this network.
