Houdini on an iMac2017

Hi! I'm about to buy an iMac 2018 (i7, Radeon Pro 580, 16gb Ram), mainly for video editing. I'm curious about learning 3d software and like to hear, if anyone here has experience running Houdini on an iMac (2017 or 2018). Does it work at all? Is it stable? Does it crash because of heating or is this problem fixed in the newer iMacs? I could not get a lot of informations on the Houdini forum, but maybe here are some Houdini users, who are so kind to tell me about their experience. Thanks a lot!

There is not iMac 2018 yet. The current model is the iMac 2017 (July 2017 I think). There might be a new model out next month or before the end of the year (just speculation at this point).
