does anyone know a fairly close average to what authorized repair shops and/or apple charges hourly for laptop repair?
 
I don't think they note down how much they charge per hour. Its more of what parts you need, and how difficult it would be to install imo.

He's right, they will give you a quote for the work they have to do after they give you a diagnostics report.
