Hovering over red, yellow, red window buttons doesnt shows split screen etc

for some reason my mac seems to have deactivated the window action when hovering over the colored buttons on the top left. When I press command when the mouse cursor is there it still shows but not by itself when hovering. Anybody knows why or knows how I can reset this?

Seeing the same on my iMac but works ok on MBPro 16"

Think the split screen option only appears when hovering over the green button.
