Pillow in particular as this is the one I am currently using? Has anyone tried multiple ones, is tracking more/less accurate between them?

I am trying Sleep++ and so far I don't believe it's very accurate determining the time I am in bed vs. actually sleeping.

I use AutoSleep, but I usually indicate that I have stood for several hours within the Activity app while I was asleep. Not sleep walking, but am a very restless sleeper.

I wore my watch last night with Autosleep it did not reporting anything in the morning. And how does the phone know how well you slept without watch because it just knows you go to bed when you put the phone to charger and remove it in the morning. I don't understand the point of this, how does it know you're in REM sleep, etc..?

If I may add my 2 cents...

I would never use the Apple Watch as a sleep monitor. That sleep time is essential for charging the watch so I can wear it all day.

I am doing something else instead. It's a bit expensive but I think a more realistic way of tracking your sleep.

This way I don't have to have the watch on my wrist.

It’s really not. I wear my watch constantly and can charge it back up when I shower or make cofeee.

Sleeping with Autosleep is quite reliable. Spending money on this, which feels like an ad since it just hit the media today is a waste if you already bought an Apple Watch.

I would almost agree with you, but you aren't going to get nearly a full charge on the Apple Watch charging it while you shower and make coffee.

This is the issue I have with these sleep apps -- they take up valuable charging time. However, if the watch works for you, then perfect. It's just an issue for me and I would rather have an external device.

For me AutoSleep is very accurate. I charge 1-2 times during a day. When I sit at work, during a shower etc. That way I can use Watch almost 24/7. You don’t have to full charge lithium batteries. Actually it’s better for battery to not charge it always full. But if you will use your Watch 2-3 years, it doesn’t matter how you charge your battery.

Just downloaded AutoSleep. It's a bit complicated to set up. I work a midnight shift and I sleep during the day and so far, I am having problems adjusting the app to that. However, I am still working on it as I type this.

It will take some time to find reliable setting for AutoSleep. But after you find right settings, it should work great.

I can't figure out how to set the main clock that helps the sensors pick your sleep time.

I can't adjust the dial.

I wrote support asking for help. It is a tough app to figure out.

I have been using AutoSleep for well over a year, and sleeping with my AW on for several. I charge my watch when I sit down at my desk in the morning. This is time that I'm likely not going anywhere for the next hour anyhow, so it causes zero interruption to my routine.

AutoSleep works ok. It gets my general trends right but sometimes thinks I've slept longer or shorter than I actually have, but once you start tracking your sleep for a long period of time you know when you've slept well or not without needing to be told.

Use the Tweak option for adjusting overall sensitivity. Day/Edit for correcting single days. Sometimes there can be errors you want to correct. Don’t use main sensitivity to correct minor errors, use Day/Edit option.

I used Autosleep for a few days and deleted the app. I wore Apple Watch to bed for 2 days and it never registered any sleep then I used iPhone but all it does is track the time you go to bed and time you wake up but it just used charge time to figure it out no real science. It did not do any sort of quality of sleep tracking.

So am I correct to assume that the point of this app is just so you logged your sleeep daily not necessary tracking your quality of sleep? That seems really pointless.

I used sleep alarm in the past and it was alarmingly accurate no pun, how it knows you had a good nights sleep by tracking how many times you wake up during the night and rem sleep.

Pardon me if I am misunderstanding you but my app does does show data for deep sleep and quality sleep among other things.

All of these sleep apps just read your heart rate and movement data from the watch itself. They’re simply interfaces to better understand the data your watch captures.

Stupid me didn’t know it actually track quality of sleep because I couldn’t get it to work with watch.

I owe you an apology.

Maybe it's the new Series 4 watch.

Wore it while I slept using AUTOSLEEP. When I awoke, I believe I only used 5% of the battery overnight.

So, Apple has perfected overnight use of the watch to the point where you can still wear it all day.

No problem. It is the only AW I have ever owned, but for me it is basically a 23 hours a day watch. The sleep tracking has been a huge help for me in recovering from athletic training.

By the way, a tip that I picked up through reading some articles on sleep apps.

Put your watch in THEATER mode when going to bed. That will stop the watch from lighting up/awakening/consuming battery while you are asleep.

Yes, I always use theater mode. The vibration on the alarm is more than enough to wake me up in the AM

I use both AutoSleep and SleepWatch because there are features I like about both. SleepWatch's iOS app is much cleaner and more intuitive. I used AutoSleep first but then saw others raving about SleepWatch and decided to try them both before making a decision to use one of them. After a year or so, I'm still using both. Both have proven to be pretty accurate and can be tweaked if your own experience tracks differently than what is reported.

I am sure AutoSleep gives you an option to track sleep via the watch or phone but cannot remember if it's the same for SleepWatch.

I get to bed with a fully charged watch and am waking up with less than 10% used during 8 hours of sleep. Both on AW 2 and AW 4.
