I was just reading about these. But why on earth would they produce only ONE usb C and 3 usb a ports 🙄 That's such foolish move on their part, everything is usb c these days. I would never be using those.

NOT everything is USB-C these days lmao. The majority of people still use USB-A, especially on desktops, which is why USB-A is prioritized over USB-C on the hub.

But hey, there's USB-A to USB-C dongles you can plug into those extra USB-A ports if it'll make you feel better

I find it mildly annoying on the rare occasions I have to plug devices in or out, however there is always the option of a Hub, or even just keeping your mini back to front with all the ports facing you.

Speak for yourself. I have about a dozen USB peripherals (perfectly good and in no need of replacement) with USB-A cables - and while I could get new cables or adapters for them, there's no advantage, since none of them actually need more than USB 3.1g1 speed. Things like scanners, a wireless mouse dongle, a wired keyboard, some Audio interfaces (16 x 48kHz channels still only needs USB 2), MIDI devices (which only need USB 1!) and spinning rust hard drives which are still the best option for large backups. I've actually got a Mac Studio and half of the USB-C sockets - including the front ones - have type A adapters plugged into them.

There's also a vicious circle - I have a 7 (+ 3 charge only) port USB 3 hub on my desk (cost about $30) and there's nothing like that for USB C - a couple of 4 port ones so, until someone sells me an 8 USB-C port hub (and not a Thunderbolt hub that costs 10x as much for exactly the same USB 3 performance) I can't replace all my USB-A cables.

Problem is, unless you have a phone that only has room for a single port or are buying high-end Thunderbolt peripherals, USB-C was always a solution looking for a problem and, in the majority of consumer applications, is no more than an inconveniently different-shaped connector for old school USB 3. There's a reason why new products are still turning up with USB-A ports 8 years after USB-C was introduced, and why so many USB-C products are multi-port adapters for so-called "legacy" interfaces.

Yep. Logitech still somehow only makes a USB-A version of their wireless mouse adapter. It doesn't hurt anyone on a desktop Mac keep a couple of those ports around, and they make life easier for many. USB-A was the connector for 20+ years. It's not going away overnight.

You're welcome to say that you don't use USB-A ports yourself, and I'd agree that there's a shortage of multi-USB-C hubs, but what you also said was:

That is not "speaking for yourself".
It is, everything here is, don't be butt hurt
