How Apple brought emoji to the world... on accident

    By accident. ;) But did they really bring it to the world? I dunno.

    I would say they did. Prior to them switching it on in iOS it primarily existed in Japan. Once they turned it on it made other phones adopt it as well. They didn't invent emoji by any means but they appear to be the reason that it's common now.

    Windows Phone (and Windows 8) had emoji long before iOS did, but not the userbase to make it popular I guess.

    Nobody claimed Apple created or had Emoji prior to other systems.
