How are Apple's refurbished Macbook Pros?

I feel like this has been asked a million times, but I cannot find the answer.

Do refurbed macbook pros bought from the apple store get the benefit of the holiday return policy? When I bring up the product page for the specific one Im looking for it says plainly that its covered by a 15 day policy.

I tried to use the chat system on the apple store page to ask for clarification but its just bots that respond by sending you a link to the main page showing their return policy.

I don't know the answer to that either, but you can probably find out by calling Apple directly. That said, I'm not sure if the extra time to return is really worth it here. You will know within a couple days whether or not the system is worth keeping. And if it's truly a system you want to keep, then it has a full year warranty with the option for 3 year AppleCare+.

I’ve only ever purchased refurbs. They’re amazing and look/feel brand new every time, and i’ve never had one burn out on me. My dad is even using my old 2012 MBP editing machine to this day. Only thing is you don’t get the sexy new white box they usually come in, just a boring brown box:(
Not true. You get a sexy white box now. They did away with brown boxes a long time ago.

Just getting back to everyone after creating this topic. I received my refurbished MBP 2018 a few days ago, and immediately had errors trying to install Mojave, then again trying to login to iCloud, then again with trying to install updates, and yet again with making my wireless mouse work. All issues I never ran into on my 2012 MBP.

I went through it with customer support, and they couldn't figure out a single way to fix it, other than flat-out reformatting my refurb that had just arrived a day prior.

Once I reformatted it, everything worked perfectly fine though, and has ever since. I'm not sure what on Earth was up with it prior to my reformat. I hope that's the last I see of such issues for a long time, since I've still had this for only a few days now. I hope some new issue doesn't pop up just after the return window is over.

I've never bought an MBP from Apple refurbished. Can you tell they're different from brand new? What are the downsides?

I bought an early 2011 15" MacBook Pro in late 2011. I have maxed out the RAM and replaced the original hard drive with a 1 TB SSD. It is still going strong. Was recalled once because of the graphics card but otherwise no problems. The refurbished section on the Apple web site gives a quick review of what they check before selling it again. Strongly recommend buying refurbished. Now waiting for the 2018 Mac Minis to show up in the refurbished section next spring.

Apple refurbished MacBook Pro sucks!
First is screen gpu issue. second is keyboard.
As much as I like to save some money, I swear to god I will never buy any refurbished Mac.

Taking actions now.

200% disappointed.

I've purchased two refurbished Macs from Apple Japan: a 2016 MacBook and a 2012 Mac mini. Both were perfect out of the box and continue to work flawlessly. Neither have ever needed any service.

I bought a refurb 13" that I'm returning, nothing wrong with it I just want a 15" Vega 20 instead. It didn't even come in a plain white box, it was a regular box that sais Refurbished on it. Other than that no differences in quality, looked absolutely brand new.

Glad to find this thread. Just ordered my first MacBook pro, refurbished 15” 2.6ghz, 16g, 512gb, 560x space grey. Hopefully have the same trouble free experience as many have posted here.

Have bought from the Apple online refurb store 4x. For each of 2 my children, my mother and myself. Worked out great each time. No complaints and will do again.

I am toying with this decision now as well.
I can get a 10% discount off retail prices.
So 2018 Air new is 1079 and a 17 MB 12inch is 1169...
I have a choice to go the refurb route and get a MB 12 inch for 989 wondering if I should pull the trigger on it or not.
It saves me $200
[doublepost=1548894394][/doublepost]or stay in between with the Air 2018 which is a 100 difference either way but it is a brand new machine.
