Picked up a 8/512 M1A renewed off Amazon (4 cycles) for $980 delivered. I had 22 tabs open in Chrome just now and it was Facebook in a Safari tab that finally gave me a memory pressure spike into the red.

I executed the Command + W of shame 13 times in Chrome and I'm solidly back in the yellow.

The only thing that I might do on this MBA that could even remotely tax it is Photoshop but that's so rare nowadays that I'm not going to sweat it. Coming from an early '15 MBP this thing is a rocket.

I'd imagine it would have something to do with the OP's use case as to why things were gumming up.

A while back, I started completely fresh with my 11" MBA (completely wiping the HD and reinstalling Big Sur). A typical use case for me would involve multiple (3-12) Firefox tabs open along with Pages, Messages & Calendar. When I go out to a coffee shop or somewhere to write, I'll have VLC Media Player going with either music or video playing too.

With the 1.3GHz i5 and 4GB of DDR3 (1600MHz) all on a 128GB SSD, it runs smooth as silk - no slowdowns whatsoever (spinning beach balls being an extraordinarily rare occurrence).

Am expecting the same, if not better, performance from the M2 (8/512).
