I'm curious as I've always bought subsidized but now hubby wants to *gasp* give up our unlimited which means next may be the way to go to get the discounts in service. So how are you buying your new iPhone 6?

I'll buy my phone on the subsidy. The next plan (as with the EDGE from VZW) is just too much money. Its a leasing program that affords the consumer the ability to upgrade their phone multiple times, where as I'd rather embrace the subsidy since I typically don't switch phones too often.

Probably and still deciding going to go with the Next 24. I get a employee discount on the plan 50% and then 25% on the plan because I have a 10GB plan so I will be be paying only $7.50 for the plan a month plus the cost of the device! Cant beat that.

I will go subsidized.

we currently have a shared ATT 2GB plan
Wife has NEXT upgraded iP5, I have an iP4 off contract.

pricing it out over two years the subsidized pricing is actually around $50-75 cheaper.

if we made the jump to 10GB plan, the NEXT is cheaper.

Next 20. I won't be upgrading 'my' phone next year, but rather my wife's phone, so we'll do the same thing we've done with subsidized phones, but it's roughly the same cost every year and monthly, but instead I get to skip paying $300 this year, which is nice.

Next year, we'll get the 6S on Next (on my wife's line), sell the 5S that will shortly be hers, pay off the remainder of my 6 and then still only have one Next phone on the line (so my monthly payment won't be insane). This is almost exactly the cost I'd have if I did subsidized on my old plan, but I get to skip paying $300 this year, so it works out nicely for me.

Is there any reason not to do NEXT if I am on the new 10GB MobileShare plan?

I can spread the payments over 24 months without any extra fee right?

so $849 /24 =$35.37 /mo.

AT&T told me if I wanted to pay it off early I could, so I could still just walk in next year, pay it off and get the new one if I chose.

Am I missing the catch with this plan?

I would change the text in the poll from "Next 20 (I want to upgrade every year with no hassle)" to "Next 20 (I want to upgrade every year with big hassles").

Since if you haven't fully paid the phone off by this time next year you won't be able to go to an Apple store to get the next phone. You also probably won't be able to pre-order from AT&T. You will have to go into an AT&T store and hand in your old phone.

You don't have to go anywhere to trade in your next phone. You preorders online from att and they send you a prepaid shipping label to send your next phone back in the box with your new phone. No hassle.

Using AT&T to order vs using apple to order does concern me. I'm hoping that perhaps by next year they'll work something out with apple that you can order directly from apple and still turn your phone in.

I definitely do not like the idea of using at&t for my preorder.

I think I'm going to pay off my 5S contract buy an off contract at&t so it's unlocked for travel but visual voicemail will still work and move my account to the unlimited prepaid account. From then on I'll just but a new phone every year.

There's no catch. It's essentially the same as buying outright, but the payments are spread out with no interest. You can pay it off early, trade it in at the designated time, or just finish making the monthly payments. The only real difference is that the phone will be locked to AT&T until the balance is paid off. If you purchase outright, it's unlocked from day 1.

Thank you for clarifying. 0% interest financing sounds great, thanks!

Full price from the Apple store. No more contracts for me, ever.

next is not a contract it's basically just 0% interest financing.

I'm going next 20 I think. Maybe 24, but either way I will pay it off within 6 months

Its funny how AT&T's home page shows pre-orders start at 12:00AM PST even though we are still in daylight savings time in the U.S.
