I'd like to order online and pickup at 8:00 a.m. But one Apple floor guy seemed to think the online purchases might not be ready at that time. I really wish I knew if online purchases and walk in purchases would be going out the door at the same time.

I'm going to chill tonight, drink dimple pinch and watch all over again breaking bad then when the time comes ill order then pick it up in the store like a boss tomorrow..

I don't know where I read it (sorry!), but my understanding is that you can't pick up an online ordered iPad until after 12:00 noon.

Can I answer if I'm not buying TOMORROW? If I say NEXT FRIDAY do I still get to use CAPS?

My plans to get an actual device tomorrow, in order of preference:

1. Verizon corporate store - I have a data line already available with no device right now and you can do 12 monthly payments in corporate stores

2. T-Mobile - They also will be doing monthly payments and they are giving away free 250 mg of data

3. Wal-Mart - Because they are selling the 16 gb wifi for 20 bucks less and I have one 5 minutes from my house

4. Apple - Order online for pickup

Unfortunately, I don't know which of these options will be the most fruitful. I plan on doing continued checking until Midnight PT (2:00 AM local time). The first of the four that I can guarantee same day pick up will be the one I buy

Sadly no reserve and collect here in the uk, so I'm just going to rock up to a store at 8am and hope no one else has the same idea :)

Online reserve @ midnight (really 3am here in NY) and then in-store pick up.

However, for those that have done the same day in-store pick up on launch before (if they have ever even offered this before), do they allow you to reserve a case as well? And do you order Apple Care online with the reserve or do they arrange that when you show up?

Thanks.

If you get one let us know.

I plan on placing my order for in store pick-up at midnight (or as I like to call it 3am EST) and pick it up before 9am. (I have a breakfast meeting at 7 and won't get on the road until 8.)

Just called the Mgr, he's now saying he won't sell them till 8am:confused:

Going to Walmart at 12 tonight, wish me luck!

If it was anything like the iPad 3 launch you won't have a problem. Everyone had plenty of stock. I felt so foolish walking up into Sams club the day after release and they had plenty for $12 cheaper. It's the retina iPad mini you got to worry about. I will be taking the day off and lining up that afternoon.

Option 3 is the best. Don't do monthly payments on tech even if there's no interest; it's still a monthly burden. If you can't swing it now then you don't need it.

I've never done this before but my understanding is those buying online for in store pick-up are purchasing, not reserving. So you pay for what you are buying: IPad, case, Applecare+ (option to buy shows up during the order process), whatever, then pick it up when they notify you it's available.

Either wal mart around 1130 am or best buy around 630 pm...I'm sure they will have plenty
