Hey,

Since this is a major release I think many people are going to update with different methods. Some prefer the clean install, some just OTA update. It would be interesting to see who’s still doing the clean “from scratch” method, to possibly clean up the device and eliminate possible glitches (that might be placebo or real).

Pretty much always just done OTA every time an update has been out. The only time i've done a full wipe and restore was when i tried to get Apple Pay working again on my phone and after i'd had a play with a jailbreak and then decided i wanted to remove it as a few apps i needed wouldnt work with the jailbreak.

Always OTA. Never had a reason to do otherwise.

Agreed. I've done OTA updates since they've been available and always restored from the same iCloud backup and never had issues with functionality or speed.

Isn’t the update from the Beta to the final a full update OTA like with iTunes?
If you are in the beta program, you'll get the GM as the "final beta". As long as the GM is also the final build, you'll get nothing new on launch day...because you already have it.

I'm going to do an OTA update, as I have for all the releases in the past. I've never had a reason to update through iTunes so I don't take the time and effort to do so.

Why? 🤦‍♂️

Habit. It’s not really a big deal. I know what apps I have and how they’re arranged. I have my pics and music saved on my Mac. It’s just a sync away from being done. I do my Mac every year too.

I do my Mac every year as well. Everything I have is on some form of cloud storage / cloud sync, so everything is indeed a sync away from being done. It also means I try out the dev beta every single year, major bugs and all, because I can just wipe the system and start over without thinking about it.

Set up as new? 😱😱😱

It's incredibly easy if you live off of the cloud haha.

How is when. And the answer is waaaay later. If you install a .0 release of iOS then you're gonna have problems. Apple has shown repeatedly that it can't be trusted to release reliable iOS early versions.

Dedication right there. 😂👌

OTA and I’m getting it now!
