Much greener pastures
I'd love to visit a barber right now...if any were open. 😄

I keep my hair medium length for a guy, trimmed to just above the ears at the sides--short enough to look and feel good, and long enough to hide my over-the-ear hearing aids.

But of course with the shutdown we're all getting shaggier. I've been attempting, with some success, to use one of those handheld personal groomers--the kind you use for nose hairs, etc.-- to trim my hair just above the ears. There's a flat head attachment which works...fairly well.

The problem is it's not nearly as big as a full size barber type electric trimmer (which I don't have). The nice part is for safety it's very well designed, making it virtually impossible to accidentally cut myself with it.

As for the rest of my hair, I'm not touching it yet. If I were to get a trimmer and try to do my own hair, I'm afraid I'd look like your typical four year old when he tries to cut his own hair.

And I really don't wanna have to ask my mom to fix it for me. 😄

I was just gonna buzz mine with a Wahl clipper but my gf wanted to try cutting it. She ended up doing a pretty good job - I've paid for worse at GreatClips and SuperCuts type places

A nephew had left clippers at my place after he decided he wanted a different model, so I decided to give them a try. Ages ago I used to cut my hair when I wore it long so I've had some experience doing it.

So far nobody has said "What happened to your hair???"

I've been shaving my head bald for about 15 years now and havent been to a barber once in that time. I'd been using Wahl products for years, but a couple months ago I purchased a Ritter Professional Mini-Cut balding clippers, and Andis shaver.

Chop an inch and a half or so off the end of the braid every four to six weeks. Works fine but only so long as one always keeps the braid on the same side of the head.

I haven't worn pants that don't have an elastic band in weeks!

I've caught myself thinking "Well these just came out of the dryer" when realizing my jeans are getting a little snug. Total lie since the only time I've been bothering to wear them lately is going out to the mailbox because it's been snowing and too cold to work in the garden... so it's been the SAME PAIR OF JEANS FOUR DAYS IN A ROW.

I think you should have made this a picture thread!

I’m contemplating taking my beard trimmer to mine. But I’ll ask my wife to assist.

Haircuts have long been a planned for expense in our household. Meaning, when the time comes for one we plan it around when we get paid. When you add in the tip it gets close to $20. If multiple people need haircuts…well that's about the same price as going out for dinner at a sitdown restaurant.

So, about 10 or so years ago we bought clippers. The current pair are a pro grade we got from Sally Beauty Supply for around $60-80. Normally, it's a $250 pair of clippers but the clerk misread the price and didn't care.

I've gotten fairly decent at using them on my own head. I used to use a zero because I live in Phoenix and it gets freaking hot in the summer. However, my wife is Mexican and doesn't appreciate the look (I'm white) when I'm out with her so we negotiated and now I use a '2' with the clippers. I still miss a few strands no matter how hard I try so she points them out to me. :)

For cleanup I use the Wahl beard trimmer I own. My wife has one of those hand held mirrors so I check the back, sides and top using that to make sure I've got everything. It's not a pro job, but I do okay. And I save $20 each time.

I've cut my own since I lived in a cabin out a ways from Moosejaw for a few months and didn't feel like driving an hour to get it done. 1987, so 33 years ago.

I just did my beard yesterday. First time I've tried growing one since 2012, and it's grey now... Doesn't look so good so I took it off.

I almost always get my hair cut every 4-5 weeks so this is going to be interesting.

Just about monthly for me. Last time was March 7 so it's ALREADY interesting..

Same here, including asking your wife for assistance. lol If I do mine, I'm taking the clippers to my garage, then sweeping the floor (which it needs anyway), keeping the mess out of the rest of the place.

I'm ready to be an extra on That 70's Show.

I am in desperate need of a haircut. My wife has offered to cut it, but that is a no go for me. So it is just getting longer.

This might make you feel confident in that decision.

My wife cut mine the other day. She said, "I'm not a barber." Well, sure, but she sews, ie; she uses scissors. My hair is now shorter. Wasn't that the objective?

Mr Clean look, including (temporarily) the beard. Wet shave. Hand held mirror. Ez peazy as was already bald, except for over and behind the ears.

Wahl clippers, bathroom mirror and handheld mirror, and patience. I do a high fade and a trim on top, it's actually really easy if you take your time.

Pretty similar to this (not me, just something off Google).
