Sorry if there's another thread I missed about this...

I like to have lots and lots of Apps. I generally don't delete them as long as they're not completely useless, crappy or duplicates. You never know when the mood might strike for some dumb but addictive game you threw away last week.

Anyway, I have too many apps to fit into a couple folders and while I've been trying to utilize the folders on my iPhone 4, I'm having trouble keeping my organization scheme intuitive. Some apps are Travel, but they're also shopping. Some I use for work but not nearly as much as others. With 2+ pages of games, it's hard to break them down (hmm is Rolando a puzzler? Platformer?) and I don't want to break them up (Games 1, Games 2 etc)

...so I'm looking for some fresh ideas! How do you organize your apps?

For games, I use:

Strategy
Adventure
Puzzle
Arcade

Those four folders are all arranged on the right side of my home screen. Rolando could just go into arcade; that's where I put apps that don't totally fit the other categories.

Junk (don’t ask why I just don’t delete them, but I’m a pack rat, and I never know if I might use one of the apps)
Games
Games Junk (the more crappy games….see junk above for why I have it)
Tools (speedtest, handy level, scan, flashlight….stuff like that)
Photography
File Utils (SugarSync, Zumo Drive, FileApp Pro, etc.)
Find Stuff (Where, YPMobile, etc.)

Why didn’t they allow us to put folders in folders? Ridiculous.

That will probably be added in iOS 5 and marketed as a magical revolutionary feature! :D

I use 6 folders, and every app in each respective folder gets used a good amount. All my folders are on the 2nd page. I keep my home screen at factory defaults (always have and always will. probably since I have had an iPhone since the introduction)

1st Folder is News. That consists of CNN, TUAW, the unofficial MacRumors App, Engadget, NYTimes, NPR News and The weather Channel.

2nd Folder is Reference. IMDB, Translator, Dictionary, Wikapanion and a few more.

3rd Folder is games. 8 games. angry birds gets the most use though!

4th Folder is Social. Facebook, Beejive, Twitter, Yelp, Loopt and foursquare.

5th Folder is Photography. I'm big on taking photos with the phones so I got a bunch of editing applications. PS Mobile (fantastic by the way), CameraBag, ColorSplash, Flickr, Hipstamatic, Photogene, Pudding Camera and iMovie. (not really photo but, its the closest folder I got)

6th Folder is Entertainment/Music. Shazam. Hulu. Last.fm, Pandora, Remote and AirVideo.

12 Folders all in the second page.

First page is like the default look of the 2G. Always leave the fourth row open to swipe. Back when I had my 2G iPhone, I did have the 5-icon dock and would put the App Store in the middle.

I love the new Folders with OS4. I use the standard categories from iTunes...

I wish Apple would add a "lock" feature to the folders.

I know that the iPhone and iPad can be locked but it seems that someone is always needing to use my iPhone or just want to check out my iPad so I would like to keep my Journal, Mail, and Safari Bookmarked icons in a folder that can be locked even when the phone or iPad isn't locked to protect my privacy.

I have a "Games" folder, a "Utilities" folder, and a "Favorites" folder which I've placed in the dock.

I have an "Apple" folder, that's full of all the crappy built in Apps that I don't use and I have a "Completed Games" folder for...you guessed it, the games that I have completed
