Just got the 128gb iphone plus and noticed that I have 110 gb available.

Is ios really taking 18 gigs? I know that every ios update takes more space but then how will a 16gb model handle it?

😱

Don't forget about formatting. On their box apple tells you how many bytes they consider a gigabyte to be. The actual amount is higher which is why the actual formatted version is much lower than what is advertised.

I have the 64gb model and it states 59gb after formatting I assume, and with iOS installed I have 56gb available. So I guess iOS takes up 3gb on the 64gb model.

Don't forget about the 8GB 5C and 4S. Those are the real stinkers.

The individuals who own those models generally aren't interested in the latest cutting edge features. They will more often than not only notice the limitation of their phones when they try to do an OTA update; even then will forget about it a few days later.
