Huh? Why do you ask? I'm confused.

A typical OS X install run around 8GB or so. The version I install runs around 3.5GB (I remove language translations I don't want and most printer drivers).

As for iWork and iLife, I have no idea....but your question befuddles me.

Edit: I suppose I should mention the 8GB is the install run from the restore disks, and includes the iLife suite.

my system folder is 2.35 GB

It's 1.9 GB for a base system installation of OS X 10.4.0. You don't get any language support or printer drivers though.

clean install of OSX is around 3G, I think?
preinstalled files on a new mac is 15~20G.
