How big would an episode that's 45 minutes long be? I'm thinking about buying the second season on Dragon's Den on CBC and there are 8 episodes avg. around 44 minutes each. The problem is I only have access to broadband at the library and I don't want to have to leave my laptop there for too long.

The "When We Left Earth" episodes I just bought are between 540 and 610MB for 48 to 51 minutes of video. So your hourlong shows are going to run circa 500MB (since they're normally 40 to 44 minutes long). The free HD episode of "Life" I downloaded is 1.36GB for 42:41. So as the other guy said, about 500MB for SD and 1.5GB for HD for a standard 1-hour show.
