Was wondering how big of a screen you can get in a 6/7/8 chassis. This would be my perfect form factor. Also with the chassis and edge to edge screen can Face ID and dual speakers be done?

The 8’s chassis almost directly matches the size of the X’s screen.

Even still, their size is fairly similar. The added weight is the real knock for me.

The size for me isn’t similar. The X is .20” longer. Now if I use the X naked or with an ultra slim bumper it’s not too bad.

However since I need more protection with a Magpul case my 8 is pretty much the same size as the X naked. But the kicker for me is when you put a case on the X like the Otterbox Statement case or the Symmetry.

Yea I can relate to the added weight of the X. It’s not that it’s significantly heavier. I think that it’s because it’s .20” taller that makes it top heavy especially if you’re a pinky shelf user like myself.

I guess using the 6/7/8 chassis for so long I’m so used to everything about the whole user experience in the chassis. It’s like the perfect ‘fit’ for me.

I was expecting that the X was going to be the same chassis as the 6/7/8 with edge to edge screen. If the 6/7/8 was edge to edge I could still navigate somewhat easy with 1 hand and 1 thumb in a case like the Magpul.

I understand Apple is heading into a new direction with the iPhone and maybe the intention of the X was a compromise between non Plus and Plus size. But I’m sticking with the chassis I prefer but wishing it was an edge to edge screen LOL. But I don’t really mind the 4.7” screen to be honest.

So my question was how big of a screen can be put in the 6/7/8 chassis. I think not quite 5” maybe 4.9”?

Another thing I noticed using my 8 non plus which I like. When I hold the 8 on my pinky shelf 1 handed I guess the the bezel where the home button is more convenient than a swipe to get to reachability or back to home. A double tap on home where the home button is doesn’t take much adjusting vs having to stretch uncomfortably and insecurely to swipe on the edge of the X. I found this difficult on the X when I had an Otterbox Symmetry case on because of the lip / lay on the table.

So in my experience actually the space or bezel where the home button is helps with ergonomically navigating the device easier believe it or not.

Now if the X could put the main navigating when holding the phone on pinky shelf where it’s convenient for my thumb to move without it being uncomfortable and insecure it would work. Like getting access to the Control Center or battery % which I like to look at through the day.

Yea the chassis could work but where the gestures to get to stuff isn’t conveniently placed for 1 hand use IN a case when you’re a pinky shelf-er.
