How can Apple justify $30 for a dock?

Good question, I guess as long as people buy them they will stay that way.

Yeah I think it's a bit much. Guess I'll be selling my dock that came with my 2G Phone. I thought I was just going to keep it for my 3G S but then remembered they aren't compatible. 🙁
