Hey gang I want no part of iOS 6 for my iPad 2. I love the YouTube app and Google Maps. I did a full erase and reset yesterday. Prior to that I had 1.3GB of an iOS 6 download and an additional 580MB update for iOS 6.0.1

My question is how is an OTA update requested by the iPad? Is it when you launch SETTINGS which in turn goes out to the iOS servers and checks for any available updates?

*I'm also considering JB in the future so that's why I want to stay on iOS 5.1.1*

It appears to check for the update on its own, at a random interval. You do not have to do anything manually for it to request the update, although it may take several days before it checks on its own.

just ignore the update indicator... you don't have to update anything.

Thanks guys I thought it would be random. Is there an app on the store which turns that feature off? I could use that 2GB of wasted space for games, music and such.
