I might be switching screens in the near future (as I have a problem with my current screen), and I was wondering if there was any way to check what type of display you have (the model, not the brand, like Chimei or LG).

Also, do you think that Apple would replace my screen (Late 2008 version) with the latest screen? They probably have extras, but the Late 2008 wouldn't be in production anymore, right? So do you think I have a chance of getting the latest version?

    Thanks! :D

    System Profiler.

Click on the Apple Logo in the top left, about this Mac, more info...

I doubt that they would give you the latest display, Apple keeps parts from that generation to repair their older computers. It is not as though you could send a Core Duo MacBook Pro to Apple and have the logic board replaced with a brand new one from the latest MacBook Pro.

They will replace your panel with the original model that came with the machine, they keep a three year stock of every part, for each model that is released
