I'm thinking this might be a good forum for this question, but am open to suggestions.

I'm trying to delete completely the Twitter for Mac app in order to correct a glitch in it. (Twitter blue subscription works fine in the iOS and in-browser twitter, but is absent in the standalone Mac app.) When I delete the app and then go to the App Store to download Twitter, it looks as though it's being downloaded from iCloud, with the "download from iCloud" icon rather than the usual "GET" button for a completely new app). I'm thinking that this "residual" download may be hampering a clean install of the app because despite having to log back in, the problem persists.

Is there a way to remove this residual app from my iCloud? I don't see it when I go to my iCloud account.

Hope that's somewhat clear.

That is normal for apps which you have previously downloaded on this or another Mac with the same Apple ID. It will still be downloaded afresh from the App Store. It is not being stored in your iCloud (never mind the cloud icon).
The GET button is for apps which you have never previously downloaded or paid for.

No. It is permanently associated with your Apple ID. But it is not in your iCloud.

As an aside, did you truly remove Twitter and all its associated files or did you just delete Twitter.app? AppCleaner https://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/ can help you remove all traces of the Twitter app.

Thank you for the clarification. And that was a great suggestion (app cleaner), much appreciated. Didn't end up solving the issue, but at least I can reply to Twitter tech support that I've done a complete clean install.

In App Store it will show a download icon instead of a Get icon if you have previuosly installed the app but subsequently deleted it. This is normal. But the download icon is for it being downloaded from the App Store, not from your iCloud.
