I’m using an iPad Pro with a Smart Keyboard. I do not want, nor need, this eyesore at the bottom of every text field I am editing in Safari.

I checked settings but I can’t figure out a way to make this go away permanently. I can “minimize it”, it send to the corner of the screen, but that only works for the active window.

Sorry if this is a dumb question and I’m overlooking something simple.

Thanks.

Get rid of the keyboard from what I’m told. I have the magic keyboard and it pops up. My buddy has the Logitech and it’s there as well

this isn’t an OS15 thing. Been there the last year at least

It’s the same thing with iPad and pencil. Tap an input field and the pencil activates. It should only do that if I tap the field with a pencil.

I’ve noticed this as well. It’s incredibly annoying cause, for example, in a messaging apps this floating things will be placed perfectly over a send button.

It used to be a horizontal bar across the entire screen with a lot of wasted space, Apple has made it a smaller floating bar, so it doesn’t get in the way.

The difference is that in the past it would push the whole app's UI upwards without getting in the way. Now it's overlapping UI elements which is actually worse (since it may block elements you want to interact with).

You can move it out of the way, if it’s blocking elements. Like below, I have it away in the bottom right, out of the way of anything.

You can move that out of the way, if needed, so it’s a minor inconvenience to just have to do that quick thing occasionally.
Yeah, I can move it to the other bottom corner. The thing is that in iOS 14 I didn't have to do any workarounds.

You get more screen real estate with this change, whereas you lost a section of the screen that's the entire width. Seems a fair trade off for having to move it slightly out of the way now and then.....
