New York City!
If I'm determined to get a new rMB, is this situation similar to the iPhone6 Plus when it first came out, where if you're willing to spend the time you can wait in line during the hour or two before Fed Ex deliveres to the Apple Store and get to pick from what comes in...?

I know it's a very general question, especially with the different stores and so on, but in general. Once I found out about the iPhone 6 mid-day deliveries of limited stock (i found out by accident, just walking past the Apple store at the right time one day) so does anyone know if the situation is similar to that with the rMB's? I hate to pay $500 over retail for one on Ebay.

Thanks!

Simple answer - there are *no* deliveries yet!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but to the best of my knowledge there have been *ZERO* deliveries to the rMB to *ANY* Apple Store in the entire world.

Most Apple Stores in the first release wave countries have display models in the store, but not for sale.

You have two options (apart from eBay etc.)

1) Order online from Apple - North American deliveries don't seem too bad, but Europe has 4-6 week waiting lists. Australia and NZ are faring a bit better.

2) Buy from an non-Apple store such as Best Buy in N. America. Unbelievably, they have had some (albeit limited) physical stock to sell in store for the last 2 weeks, whereas Apple stores have not.

I expect this situation to change very soon because it must be hugely embarrassing for Apple.

I suspect Apple has a high "embarrassment" threshold.

More will be avaliable just as quick as they can make them and get them in the shipping channels.

I called a local Bay Area Apple store yesterday and they had some silver models in stock.

Same for Boulder, CO.

They had three Silver high-end (1.2/512GB) in stock this morning. Now they have two.

Other Denver stores told me they were not getting ANY. Boulder mentioned yesterday that a couple had trickled in last week, so I checked again this morning and they had three. They said mine was the fourth they had sold.

Its odd. There are no MacBooks at all on my local Craigslist and Im in Orange County with 3.2 million people. There are always tons of MBPs and there are dozens of Apple Watches too. Kind of strange to not see any on there at all. That tells me they really are in very short supply and people are buying them and keeping them

I know the Apple Store just south of there in Broomfield has been getting a couple in here and there, but all are for people who ordered with store pickup. They have only seen a couple base model silver ones and one 1.2GHz SG one not pre-ordered by customers, so this roll-out seems to be a slow trickle at best.

I ordered a 1.3/512 in gold for my wife's birthday and I'm praying it comes in time - still have a bit over 2 weeks. I did some back and forth on that decision and didn't think much of it since it said 2-3 week ship time back on 4/10. I ended up placing the order on the morning of the 11th and when it showed up in my account, it said 4-6 weeks. Ouch. So no word yet.

On about the 15th my son and I were in BestBuy, Lakewood, CO near CO Mills mall. Just checking them out. Turns out they had a 1.2/512 in gold that day and I almost picked it up, but declined. As soon as I passed on it, another lady also looking at them quickly said she'd take it. and she did... I probably goofed. ;) I've checked back a couple other times since and nothing there except a couple base model silver ones at a BB or two across town and absolutely nothing in the last week anywhere.

I'm starting to get nervous and not sure the 1.3 is worth missing the birthday party. But I also don't expect to get one any sooner by other means... Oh well.

eBay is the obvious choice for those who need one now and can't source one via normal channels. I know that Best Buy quickly sold out of the Space Gray 1.2/512GB, which seems to be a popular choice here.

Picked up a space grey 512 at local Best Buy tonight. Apple rep said I got lucky. One other machine in stock.

Might want to drop by as the web site had zero details about stock at the store.

I got a rMB from Best Buy last week -- order to delivery was 3 days. Haven't kept track of what their shipping estimate is now, but as of last week, it was the fastest way to get one.

Several models in stock right now online. Several backordered till june\july.

Amazon\Dataviz has most models in stock for immediate shipping.
