    Greetings all!

I am in a long on going struggle trying to get my iMac 27 inch 2011 into target display mode while plugged to my Asus G75vx laptop. My G75VX does have a working thunderbolt port and I have plug it into a Apple 27 inch Thunderbolt Display at the store and it does work perfectly. However, when I plug my laptop with iMac's, I simply cannot get the iMac into target display mode, even with the command+F2 buttons passed (used the original bluetooth keyboard the iMac came with).

Have anyone successfully put the iMac into target display mode with Thunderbolt that is not connected to another Apple computer? It is driving crazy that I cannot use iMac as a display. Thanks for reading, looking forward to see if guys have anything to add.

a number of threads in the forum have said only another Mac with thunderbolt can be used as input to a 27" for target display mode.
