How can I insert objects into Pages?

I'm trying to insert an object into a Pages document (in page layout mode) but cannot figure out how to do it.

Specifically I want to insert a numbers file (like in MS you can insert any object (embed) into a document). Is this possible?

I have no experience with inserting Numbers files into Pages, but to insert photos, I just drag and drop them in the Pages document.

I would suggest that you either try to drag the Numbers doc from the Finder into the document or drag a specific table from Numbers on the document. Have you tried copy/paste? That should work too.
