Just bought my first vehicle featuring CarPlay.

Have about 8,000 songs downloaded on my iPhone on my iTunes library.

Also subscribed to Apple Music

Here's the problem I am having.....

When pressing the SIRI button in my vehicle and asking for a song to be played, it searches outside of my downloaded library of songs and instead looks to stream music via Apple Music.

I turned off "streaming" on my iPhone preferences.

However, Siri is still searching for songs outside of my downloaded library and since streaming is now turned off, it just sits there in silence instead of playing the song.

So, the bottom line is: I need to restrict all Siri vehicle searches to just songs that exist on my iPhone hard drive and nothing outside of that.

Any setting on the phone I am missing?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried adding "in my library" when trying to use Siri for searches?

I don't know if that will work though.

No, not sure if that is an actual option. However, I will give it a try.

I always say, "play my music" to get it to play my library, shuffled.
I never tried anything specific. I will do that this afternoon.
I would assume it work like, "Play Bob Dylan from my music".

Make sure you have this setting off

Settings > music > cellular on > streaming toggled off

That is what I do and it does work. I’ve only used it a rental with carplay though. Aside from that reset the phone I worth a shot.
