Plus that requires a too much mouse movement.

If you are running SL, doing it as a service is so very easy.
Here's some quick instructions on how to do it for those that don't know how to use services.

1. Open Automator. When you open automator, the first window will ask you what kind of file you want to create. Choose Service from the menu.

2. On the right side of the window, select the options so that it says that the service requires no input and that the service can run in any application:

3. On the left side of the window, there's a field where you can search for different actions. Search for screen saver. It should be able to find something like this:

4. Drag the "Start Screen Saver" action into the box on the right side of the automator window. The box says something like "Drag actions here to build your workflow." Once you have dragged the action into that box, the automator window should show something like this:

5. Now, save your service and give it a name that you can recognize easily:

6. Open the system preferences, and go to the keyboard menu. Select the "Keyboard Shortcut" tab. Two boxes will appear. On the left box, select Services; and on the right box scroll down till you find the service you just saved. It should be on the very bottom. The first thing to do is to turn it on, if it's not on already. Double click on the service so that you can set a keyboard shortcut.

7. Once you are done, it will show something like this:

8. That's it, you are done. Press your keyboard shortcut to bring the screensaver and lock your mac.

Why is everybody showing the OP such complicated ways to lock the screen? All you have to do is tick the box in Keychain Access for the lock to appear in the menubar. Just click it and choose lock screen. The Mac still runs in the background along with the apps.
