How can I open the photos.app interface when uploading in Safari?

Hey everyone,

sometimes, I need to upload pictures online through Safari. I get the option like "Click here to upload" and the Finder opens. There, I can scroll down to media and see all my pictures but I don't have the option to see my folders, favorites etc. like in the photos.app. When I do the same on my iPad, it basically just opens the interface of the photos.app.

Does anyone know how I can fix that? Thanks!

You could simply drag the pic from Photos to the desktop first, making a copy, and drop that into Safari.

That's one area where macOS parity with iOS would be useful but is still missing.

Before MacOS 11/12 this was how it worked. I dunno why they made this decision or changed this, but the photo picker no longer lets you browse your library like it used to and there's now no sorting at all and you just have to scroll through everything for the photo you want. It's phenomenally useless. The workaround is to open Photos, find the photo you want, and drag and drop it to the upload dialogue (if it lets you drag and drop to upload). It shouldn't be that convoluted.
