How can I read a CD to transfer data my macbook?

USB optical drive. Or if you have another PC/Mac, you can use the Remote Disc application to read the CD/DVD from your Mac using that computer.

Something like this bro. Any one will work, though I'd recommend a brand that is more reliable like Samsung, as the real low price ones are flaky to say the least. Otherwise you can get the Apple SuperDrive though that's a lot more pricey.

If you only have a few discs to read, it's probably not worth it to you to buy the "official" Apple Superdrive.

I believe you'll do just fine with a run-of-the-mill USB CD/DVD reader/writer from a place like amazon.

Samsung drives seem to be fairly decent...
