i have been trying to figure this out but no luck. i tried puting the lockscreen option about in winterboard. still no luck. anyone know?

I had the same problem. What I did was to set the wallpaper through the settings app instead of going to the photos app and then setting a wallpaper. It worked after a respring. You can also delete the default lockscreen backround by ssh:ing in to the iDevice and removing the image file itself.

I could always use my own lockscreen wallpaper/photo/image until I upgraded to iOS4.I tried every setting I could find in WB and nothing worked.Maybe it was my theme over-riding it.I used iFile to delete the "lockscreenbackground.png : that was the only thing that worked for me..glta

It's actually no harder than up/downloading files from/to an ftp.

If you are using mac try downloading cyberduck (free). IMO it's a very competent client and it's also has a great layout.
