I was recently trying to sync a new app to my iphone when it kept connecting and disconnecting from itunes. I got the message this device was not ejected properly notice. I switched to a different lightening cable and that helped itunes saw it and I synced the app.

all seems fine now, phone works, but is there anyway I can check that it is ok?

The most common issue with not ejecting is that files on the phone, not the phone itself, will become unusable. If you have a large amount of "other" data on the iPhone when you hook it up to iTunes, then that is likely unusable data. There is no good way to remove it other than restoring the iPhone.

thank you for the reply, what would consist of other files?

I have mostly apps and photos.

there is a little colored stripe that shows up in itunes when the phone is connected, called other, but I dont know what it is, I use it for mainly phone and text, photos video, and apps.

I also just sucessfully instaleed and updated ios 8.3 as well.
