How can I unlock my Iphone 4 country lock?

Hi all,

I was wondering if somebody could please help me.

I got an iphone 4 nearly 2 years ago in the UK, I then changed companies whilst over there, so I know it is not locked to a network.

I have recently moved to Australia with my iPhone 4, but when I put an Australian sim card in the phone will not work and tells me to take the phone to my carrier. Unfortunately this is in the UK.

I called a mobile phone unlock company that stated he cannot do it as it is different software.

Is there anything I can do to unlock my iphone until I upgrade as I cannot do this for a few months until I am settled in with employment but love my iphone and would be lost without it.

Any information would be muchly appreciated.

Call the carrier the iPhone is locked to and ask them to unlock it.

You said you changed carriers in the UK and used the same phone then it should be unlocked. Which carrier did you change from and to?

If the phone is unlocked it should work with any carrier. I have never heard of a message on the phone that says take it to the carrier. If the phone was locked and you put a foreign SIM in it says Sim not recognized, or no SIM.

I moved from 02 after some issues with them. I then used lebarra for a few weeks, then used 3 mobile for over a year.

the message says,

only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iphone. Please insert sim card that came with your iphone or visit a carriers store to receive a replacement sim card.


I do not have the original sim but and cannot visit their store.

hi im new in this website can you help me in my problem ? my problem is after i upgrade my iphone when i open it in activation screen it always saying that
"sim not supported the sim card that you currently have installed in this phone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server .this is not a hardware issue with the iphone .please insert another sim card from supported carrier or request that this iphone be unlocked by your carrier .please contact apple for more information " . in the first place i never change the sim card , there is a signal it but when i choose the country it always appear and im stock in it i cant use my iphone what should i do?
