I bought an Apple black leather iPhone 8 case online for $20 and it’s my first time owning one of these so am not sure if it’s legit or not.

the black leather case feels super light. Almost too light. The box it came in feels of high quality so am wondering if maybe the box is legit but not the case.

the back of the box seems to have a serial number and the inside of the case itself has the same serial number etched in but I can’t tell if these numbers were modified there.
I’m hoping I can check on the Apple site. That would be great and probably the best way to verify.

Pics of the case??

Well as someone who looked at a lot of knock offs before finally pulling the trigger on the OEM apple leather case, the following were the main standouts/identifiers for me;
1.The grain is much finer on the legit cases
2.The buttons are better finished
3.The most obvious one was the logo. On the legit case its well embossed and the edges are crisp and clearly distinguishable. Whereas on the knock offs its very blotty and vague, you cant make out the edges of the embossed logo.
And yes it is supposed to feel light, that happened to me too! I think its cause we perceive it with our phones in the case which is why holding it empty feels off. It’s essentially just plastic with a leatherette wrap l guess hence the light weight.
For what its worth, l think youve got the real deal!
Hope this helps
