How can I view .AVI files?

I have a macbook pro G5 and have downloaded an AVI file it will not open with quicktime, has anyone any ideas what software I need to view it, or is it not mac compatible.😕

Get flip4mac plugin at www.flip4mac.com

Also, install Perian, a plugin that plays many video codecs through Quicktime.

The Video Lan Player is also an excellent player for all types of media. It's a universal binary.

divx player will install the right files into QuickTime to view .avi's.. search for it on macupdate.com
