Peak will do it, as will spark, which is slightly cheaper, but I'm sure there's a free way to do it somewhere.

Quicktime can do that, accidentally I've done it sometimes, open the file with quicktime and go to Menu Movie, loop back and forth, if it's for occasional use, it will work well.. I'm not sure if it's only a QT pro feature...

Whenever I use quicktime to do that, it never works. It ends up playing the song from the end, but in tiny chunks that are actually playing forward (and thus, make a really annoying pop ever few seconds, plus the fact that it's not really playing backwards).

I've found the best way to do it is to go into Final Cut and reverse the track in there...but yes, audio apps like Peak are a safe bet.

a less pro solution is iMovie ;)

There is a FREE wave editing program similar to both Peak and Spark called Audacity:

Here is the link for you: http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Audacity_OSX/

You might experience a little bug with it where it resets your sound control to an extremely low setting but you can change it back in Core Audio afterwards.

Lets you do lots of things with Audio besides reversing things and you can't beat the great price of £0.00!

I'm pretty sure there are some Beatles songs that, if played backwards, have veiled threats to Steve Jobs... "Jobs is dead...Jobs is dead."

Yeah, pretty close. If you listen to the first minute or so of Revolution 9 backwards, you can clearly hear "Trillion, Redmond. Trillion, Redmond."

The more important question would be what songs are you wanting to listen to backwards :D
D
ɔɥᴉlpɹǝN oℲ ʇɥƎ snN by Billy Thorpe is actually quite nice when played backwards. (Swapping channels is unnecessary, but makes for a better looking title.) hcaB no dehctiwS (Wendy Carlos), also fares well as does much latem renots. And there's always seltaeB eht.

Congratulations, this is officially the oldest resurrected thread I've ever seen.
