Really. To me it's a junk app I throw into my Apple Junk folder and when I set up my new MacBook Air, I used it once just to download Firefox and Edge.

It supports basically no extensions. No uBlock Origin or any other extensions I use. Some websites don't render right. I use Microsoft Edge which is fast and supports many chrome extensions. I also use Firefox that works better on three websites I visit. It also works on websites that Safari chocks on. It also supports all extensions that I use.

Remember this is my opinion. But I just really don't like safari which is why I don't have a iPhone and I retired my iPad for an Android tablet.

Pretty much the only reason I use it is because of the Keychain and tab sharing across multiple devices. Now that Keychain has expanded to Chromium, I'm probably going to switch to something like Vivaldi or whatever is currently good now. I'm very, very, extremely over Safari being such craptasticity.

Seriously, you'd think Apple weren't a trillion dollar company with how awful most of their programs are these days. The entire, "I prefer Apple 'cause their stuff is easy to use and just works," mantra has well and truly died in the butt, IMO.

Perfect example is the god awful app iTunes.

I switch between Safari and Brave. YouTube ad blocking is excellent with Brave. I have yet to find an ad blocker for Safari that comes close. I use Wipr for Safari. It does well for most ad blocking, but it does not handle YouTube ads.

I agree about Chrome. I had it installed and it was bloated memory hog. But I now use Edge which uses less resources, support all chrome extensions and runs faster. Also uses less battery. It's my default browser after uninstall Chrome. The only thing is that they do make it difficult to switch your default search from Bing to Google and even then they still try to force Bing when you try to do certain things in the browser. But it's still better than Chrome.

I also use Firefox for certain sites like chewy.com which only work on that browser.

You might want to re-examine the resources used by Edge. Edge used to be my go-to browser for the reasons you cited. But over time, Microsoft has added quite a bit of bloat... not just to the code itself but to the interface as well.

With each update, I would need to go in and disable the new features.

Now, I only use Edge on my iOS devices because of the built-in adblocking. I've gone back to Chrome for Mac OS and Windows. By using an extension manager like "Extensify" and tweaking a few flags, Chrome performs just as well as Edge but without the bloat that MS keeps pushing.

On my Samsung Android tablets, I use Samsung's Internet which works extremely well. By using a Samsung Internet extension on my desktop Chrome browsers, I get bookmark syncing to my Android tablet.

As for Safari, I haven't seen any redeeming qualities that would encourage me to use it compared to the rest.

Go on, I'll engage…

With these kinds of comments, I always wonder what I am doing differently that I have such a vastly different experience? I use Safari – and have done for over 2 decades – without any fundamental problem. It really does just work. And that's across my iMac, iPad, iPhone (heck, have even used it's functionality on my Watch occasionally to load web content).

Yes there are bugs from time to time, but I've always found it a pleasant place from which to navigate the web. The features are nicely integrated across the Apple ecosystem and work well for real-world use.

I prefer Safari over any browser, especially junk-ware like Chrome that can't even update a stored password for weeks after you change it. "ThErE's No PlAcE lIkE ChRoMe..." unless you like browsers that act like browsers from 2002.
If having a functional browser means going back to 2002, then I'm deeply afraid of where "modern" web browsers went wrong

I use Safari for Netflix because Safari is the only browser blessed by Netflix to play 4k

Otherwise I use chrome so it syncs with my android devices. Yeah I probably should try some other chromium browser but I'm too lazy

I use Brave. Its super fast, it blocks ads on its own and you slap UBlock Origin on top of that.
