how can someone IM you when s/he isn't even online?

how's is that possible? i'm using AIM with adium if it makes any difference.

Adium has an option: "send message later" if the person who the message is to isn't online. The next time they get online, Adium sends the message. So it could be that the message was supposed to be sent a while ago.

Did you receive it as an offline message? I know Yahoo will save messages for me when I'm offline, and they'll appear when I log in.

AOL can do this now too.

i doubt it was an offline msg, cos the other person appeared to be offline the whole time when we were chatting.

is this a trillian thing? cos i don't think adium would allow me to be invisible.

also, is there a way to make myself invisible to certain S/Ns so they won't IM me? 😀
