Second thunderbolt port.
Front facing camera upgrade for web calls
Better battery life.
RAM options instead of needing to buy a 1tb model for 16GB of RAM
Built in kick stand

+1 on the RAM options. It should be decoupled from general storage size, especially given the premium that Apple charges for it. But the latter suggests why it won't happen.

Yup, I too would prefer that all Pro models had the same amount of RAM and that it wasn't tied to storage options at all. This would serve to further differentiate the Pro lineup from the others and allow developers better flexibility to utilize the additional RAM for a broader audience. Seeing as it took so long for them to treat base storage with better consistency in the various lineups I don't see RAM parity on the Pro line happening any time soon. One can hope though.

Definitely this. I can only really use it manually set at 45-50% brightness, and have to turn off Night shift and True tone!
+1 for PWM issue. I tried and returned two 11” models due to eye strain, I couldn’t look at it more than 10minutes, and my head was dizzy for a couple hours after I stopped using them..
I upgraded to an M2 11” instead from M1 11”

More RAM, better battery, lower price, better webcam.
It’s not going to be cheaper thats for sure. Apple will keep that £999 RRP base price for the iPP as standard just like the base iPhone Pro. With Tandem OLED, latest M chip exclusivity, thinner design etc and now with iPad OS 26 to be honest i think its worth it.

+1 for RAM options (should be the same as on MacBook Air, 16GB standard and configurable up to 32GB)

Also, Nano-Texture without forced storage upgrade and a new version of Final Cut that at least supports Custom LUTs and ideally brings over many more features from the Mac version.

These are all minor but would be pretty nice and honestly, “enough” for this year for me.

Two front cameras and Face ID sensors for portrait and landscape use. (Face ID in the corner might also work.)

Nano-texture option decoupled from storage options, and with a matte bezel.

Better speakers for portrait orientation. Better speakers in general. (It’s a physical constraint, but speakers were better on the previous thicker iPad Pros.)

Less graininess and temporal dithering of the OLED pixels.

Curved edges on the back like the Home button iPads had.

MagSafe charging of some sort (magnetically attached charging cable or puck).

Zero camera bump.

White bezels for the silver model.

Cellular option shouldn’t be so expensive. Or at least include GPS on the non-cellular option.

There is no temporal dithering already

There is something that looks like it on very low brightness levels. It’s why I switched to an Android OLED tablet for low-brightness viewing, which exhibits it less (made the difference between distracting and non-distracting).

The only realistic improvement is RAM, which seems the most likely and is also rumored. Even iPhones are going to get more than 8GB RAM, so it's pretty much a given. The most likely is 16GB RAM base, so that they can scale better with their Macs that are now all 16GB at least. The questions remain, will they keep on giving incentive for the 1-2TB models.
Maybe just nanotexture, maybe more cores, maybe 24GB RAM or a combination thereof.
But RAM will be the main selling point of M5, which is otherwise rumored to be just a spec bump, and this time Apple is going to explicitely mention it, because of the new multitasking. Having said that, expect no event, just a press release with some videos...

1. Battery Life
2. 16GB RAM across all Pro models
3. Minimum 256GB ROM on Pro Models
4. Two front facing cameras and have the ability to switch by a button to choose either Portrait or Landscape mode.
5. Better fast charging

Agree with everything! No one has mentioned camera improvements on the back... Apple actually removed a camera with the last model having a ultra wide lens.

I could see Apple adding a 48mp lens that's in the base model iPhones (and I'm well aware iPad-photo taking is frown upon, nevertheless it would be an upgrade to show off).

Besides WiFi 7, the current M4 iPad Pro is perfect. I don’t see anything else it needs.
*Its perfect for you. Which is great! It means that the current iPad will meet your needs for years to come without needing to upgrade!
Im pretty excited to see how iOS 26 will improve my workflow with the windowing feature.

As far as perfection, it is only relevant to the present. Unfortunately as technology moves forward, new software will require demanding hardware, and therefore faster processors, increased ram, improved graphics. So the now-perfect device will be underpowered in years to come.

Recent processors hold up well. Our 2021 12.9" Pro easily holds its own with demanding processing such as 4K video and large RAW image processing. It's not far off our M4 13".
