That might be too small of a chassis to include an M-series chip and thus call it a Pro, both in terms of thermals but also to contain a large enough battery. The 11" Pros already have not great battery life.
Yes i agree with you, but the next iPad Mini needs to have a 120 hz display (and the Air) for sure.

I would love to see an even bigger iPad Pro, maybe 15 or 16 inch
I have mine on a magnetic stand a lot of the time at home as a second screen, so watching content on a bigger one would be great

A 16inch iPad with nano texture display and extra ports will be a dream machine. Plus add customizable physical buttons to the apple pencil and I'm sold.

Does it at least get better battery life than my M2 iPad Pro? 2 hours of web browsing and it’s at 60%. Screen at ~60% brightness, docked in the Magic Keyboard case.

(And yes, it was this bad on mainline iPadOS 18, too.)

Just wanted to say that while the weight savings for the M4 iPad Pro seem minor on paper, I definitely feel and appreciate the difference after a while. I recently dug out my 2018 iPad Pro to play with the iPadOS 26 beta and wow, it suddenly feels so much heavier in comparison. I am not sure how much more room there is for the iPad to improve in this regard, but man, I do notice it.

and the 2018 (12.9) is quite a bit lighter than the M1/M2 (it's actually half way between the M1/M2 and the M4)

I think Apple will want to keep the IPP really thin to prove that it can be done (although arguably this is the inverse of the MBA/MBP)!

Absolutely needs more battery life - whether that’s via chip efficiency, or whether you build a battery into the MKP.
Build quality of MKP also needs to improve, not sure why we need the rubberised cover any more, an all metal design 👍🏼

Would removing features that take up battery help with weight too ?

Such as? The iPad already feels as minimalistic as can be right now.
Anything hardware wise. Like example speakers but that not required of course. Doubtful Apple or any tablet maker would allow you to customize a tablet like that. It would cost more for both the company and the consumer.

It's getting pretty close to perfection with this form factor and display.

With the M5 you've got improvements to efficiency, as well as the N1 and C1X which again improve efficiency and reliability of wifi, cellular, AirDrop etc.

Maybe an eventual switch to that new silicon carbide battery tech or whatever it is.

If Apple are sticking with the M series chips for the iPad Pro, you're limited in terms of the kind of miniaturization of design that Apple did with the iPhone Air, so I can't imagine it's going to get any crazy design changes.
