Probably a better back camera; 7-9 MP and better low light performance perhaps. 1080p/30 video recording.

100% fixed antenna (though I doubt they'll advertise that)

Slight change in the I.D.

iChat for iOS

VoIP/video GameCenter

Garageband for iOS

Ping for iOS (maybe)

Almost half of all of your guys' suggestion for what you think the new iPhone will have are Operating System upgrades to iOS 5. Only 'Small White Car' has pointed this difference out between the hardware upgrade selling points and a software upgrade.

If not next year, then after that we will probably see Apple branded processors based on the multiple core ARM Cortex-A9 and improved GPUs. That should give a big performance boost.

The touchscreen will eventually get haptic feedback, meaning you can feel you're touching buttons, keys and whatnot. It's in development but we most likely won't see it for a few years. While we're waiting for that, the next thing might be a capacitive touchscreen that can be used with gloves. I remember reading that such a thing was recently developed. Would be a great thing for the freakishly cold Finnish winters...

They're probably not ready to ditch the dock connector yet, even though it's awfully large for what it is. Too many 3rd party device out there for it. Eventually they'll probably have an adapter piece similar to what was done with the Mini-Displayport on Macs. I hope that they'll at least make the dock connector support higher resolution video output, making the iPhone and iPad capable of showing 1080p video on TVs with a few adapters.

I think that RFID will be the next big selling point. Basically them saying that your iPhone can replace your wallet and any paper ticket you ever have. Not only that but I am sure they can use it so that devices can talk to each other and share information. I know this scares some people on the privacy front but I can't wait for this to happen.

I'm kinda thinking it'll be iPhone 3G - iPhone 3GS.

The only problem with that, is that the 3GS introduced quite a few changes. A faster processor, more RAM, a better camera and the option to shoot video, improved graphics capability and a compass.

The iPhone 3G was exactly the same as the OG iPhone, with the addition of the 3G radio and GPS and the whole rear design change.

I guess what I was really trying to say is that next years iPhone will look and perform exactly the same as the iPhone 4 with the likely addition of LTE data (should be ready to deploy in a couple dozen markets by fall 2011 for AT&T).

How about an LED indicator light which flashes when you have some sort of event, like missed calls or an email. It should be configurable. Or how about more information on the lock screen like weather widgets, a calendar or notification events? Just something useful.

How about a time of day scheduler to shut off sounds or put the phone on silent on a preset schedule?

Aside from the LED indicator light, which I think is a fabulous idea, though it could drain the battery a bit, the rest of the requests should be done with software updates or apps! I think a scheduler for the sounds, and more options with sms/other tones would be nice as well.

The rumors are that the next apple processor will be based on the the arm a9 processor which is dual core. So, I expect to see a 600 MHz dual core processor in iPhone 4g. And obviously 4g lte radios. They would have lower the clock to preserve battery. Should still be faster than 800 MHz A4.

Antenna issue fixed, wireless syncing, Bluetooth file transfer and custom tones. I want to be able to customized the slide to unlock sound, SMS sound, mail sound etc.

Hardware wise i'm pretty content since they addressed my 3 peeves with the iOS 2/3 devices in iP4 and that is the camera, plastic case and the screen

Coming from almost 6 years of Windows Mobile devices where most of the forum chatter that happens when a new device is release consists of "How can I disable this damn notification light?", I hope that, in the very, extremely unlikely event that Apple puts a notification light on the iPhone, that it is able to be turner off completely.

But a notification light isn't happening. Heck, if you would have told me a year ago that the next iPhone would have a front facing camera, I would have told you with 100% absolute certainty that the front camera would have a small led light to let you know when it's on, like the computers. That didn't happen. If a light to let you know when the camera is on didn't happen, a notification light isn't happening.
