Apple used it for diagnostic services, but hackers used it to jailbreak the devices. If I had to guess Apple removed it so that would be harder. Reactions: kat.hayes

I used USB-C to connect it to iTunes to restore in cases doing a restore directly on the device, failed. You can always ague this point on 4K too.
