I wish to copy over most of my iTunes library to a Macbook using an external HDD. However, I don't wish to copy over the Movies and TV Shows folders.

I am worried that there are perhaps hidden items in the iTunes folder so I'm not sure that the below will work. Would I do something wrong if I:

- go to the iTunes folder in Finder,
- show its contents "in a list",
- hit CMD-A to select all items,
- while pressing CMD, unmark the folders I don't want to copy, and
- drag the selection to my external HDD?

Many TIA
Philip

Using home sharing instead -- question re Match

Ok I discovered that connecting to the source Mac via home sharing I can import the Music only to the destination Macbook -- http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527

A follow-up question:

To import like this, will it make a difference if Match is on or off on the Macbook? Instinctively I would say it should be off, but I want to be sure.

TIA
P

Well I spoke too soon -

It turns out that my wifi connection is skippy so I get interrupted transfers. And when I press Import again, it starts from the beginning. Sigh.

I would like to try using my external HDD. Would my description above of the steps be correct?

Thanks for any help at all
Philip
