I once dropped my fully spec'ed 15'' Macbook Pro (2010) down a flight of stairs. Thankfully, most of the functions worked, although half the screen was cracked. I was near suicide because that computer had cost $3,000 and I had bought it just 4 months ago.
It all turned up well though because I took it to an authorized reseller and they replaced my screen and the entire unibody for $2500. Now the computer is running faster than ever, although sometimes it does make a weird sound from the CD-rom :( not sure what that is.
I've put it up on eBay if anyone wants to buy it. It's selling for $4,500 and it's called "The Porsche Survivor"

Please tell me this post is a joke. The link leads to a real Porsche and spending $2500 to repair a $3k computer is ludicrous when you could have upgraded for less.

I've had my rMBP for 6 months now and only had a scratch on the bottom cover due to normal use. Had :)

My screen got replaced by an authorized Apple service centre and it came back with a loose screw and the lid could be moved front and back on the left hand side. I came to London on vacation for Christmas and NYE and decided to take it to Apple Regent Store for the geniuses to take a look at it. Turns out, the guys on the service centre tightened the screws so much on one side of the MBP (and let them loose on the other) that they had a bad time taking the bottom cover out. So much that they scratched the bottom cover real bad. They changed it right away for a new one and now I have a non-scratched rMBP :D

My wife opened a cabinet above my MBP and a can fell out and dented the speaker cover. Sorry to see it happen but no big deal I the greater scheme.

I try to take care of my stuff but things happen.

I never really have a big scratch on my MacBook Air, just like tinny tiny small one on the apple logo and not really obvious unless I take a really close look. So far I don’t not have dents on scratch on the laptop, the important thing is to always buy protection and to not buy one of those cheapo laptop sleeve as it drops easily and it is very hard to manage, maybe get a laptop bag with sling or backpack , keyboard covers and laptop casing protector .

I was like upset for about a few days that the scratch was there on the apple logo but I am now okay with it and thought to myself what is most important is that it is able to turn on all the ructions still work and learn to live with it

So don’t worry about it this is life , not everything is meant perfect and no tech is perfect it will always have scratches, dents or discrepancies and it shows how well we take care of our belongings with just a little mindfulness and carefulness you can prevent scratches from happening .

All you have to do is take care of it

A number of years ago a guy called into Car Talk asking for help -- he was paralyzed by fear that his new car would be scratched or dented. Click and Clack -- laughing, as was their wont -- told him that the way to stop worrying about it would be to take the car to a supermarket lot, park it near the cart corral, and come back two days later. Go on from there. Problem solved.

If you dented your MBP eight years ago, you probably couldn't care less about it at this point. The lesson: time heals these kinds of wounds. If that fails, I would strongly recommend two stiff shots of Scotch. This has always worked for me.

My 2014 has a screen ding caused by me trying to close the lid with my wedding ring on the palmrest. It still works fine. My 2015 MacBook Pro was purchased used and it had corner dents and other dings and scratches on the bottom case. Basically it was pretty beat up but I've been using it for three years and it runs just fine.

People ask the same thing about tennis racquets. My response is that things are meant to be used. If you want it to look pretty, buy one and put it in a glass case.
