i waited for iPhone 4 and iPad 2.

iPhone 4 line was about 2.5 hour wait and had plenty left after that. I preordered and my friend didn't. He got one about 8 hours after me. This was the Westfarms mall in CT and I got there around 1 pm.

iPad 2 was about 2.5 hour wait but didn't have as many past my wait point. Danbury Mall in CT and I got there around 4 PM.

If they redesign this iPhone I will be preordering from Apple's website. I didn't preorder the 4 because I had to switch upgrades which could only be done at the store.

I stayed up the night of preorders and kept on refreshing between ATT and Apple until it eventually worked through ATT. Plan on doing the same thing again.

I also feel that it'll be easier to get one compared to the iPhone 4.

That's probably the best approach to get one in your hands on whatever day they decide to launch it. I'll probably do the same and wait for the delivery, no lines or overnight lines to deal with :)

Nearly impossible. I tried last year for the iPhone 4, went to 5 different stores at early morning hours & had no luck. I had to wait a week for the next shipment.

If there is a pre-order ( which there most likely will be ) why not just pre-order it?

I'm hoping they decide to do preorders like last year with iPhone 4 so all I have to do is wait for it to be delivered to my job. Before that happens I 1st hope AT&T decides to move the eligiblity to upgrade date on my account. If not, then I should'n't have a problem picking one up in December.

I have SPRINT. Any thoughts or ideas on when they will get the new phone? I have been waiting as my blackberry is on its last leg.

I got the iPhone 4 on launch day at the Montreal Apple Store last year.

Got there at 5am. There was already around 150 people in line. I finally got mine at 3pm. All the provider's servers crashed from the overload and they had to manually fill paper forms, same **** happens every year in Canada.

I was one of the last to get one with my provider (Fido). They were already out of stock of some providers when I got mine, but still had plenty of unlocked ones.

10-11am the day before launch and u might have 15-20 people in line

10-11am on launch day there will 5 times the amount of people in line then there are phones in the store.

Unless the population in the town u live is 50-100.

That's crazy. I went to the iPhone 3gs Launch at the apple store in the mall around lunch time and there was only about 20 people..Population around 700,000.

Pre-order and sleep...while people stand outside in lines. That's your most reasonable and best case scenario.

Those of you getting this new phone should pray for pre-orders, or the scene could get pretty ridiculous. At least you have the cool fall weather if you choose to stand outside rather than the blazing heat of last summer.

I got the iPhone 4 at a Pennsylvania store. Got in like around 7 the night before had about 50 people in the non-preorder line. Got out the store by 9:30am. Had plenty of phones but the lines were REALLY long. Staggering blocks into the neighborhood behind the apple store.

For those of us in the UK that means heavy rain

Pray for indoor shops!

Waiting in line the night before or in the early morning is quiet the experience. I showed up at 3 AM at an AT&T store and was around sixth or seventh in line. The guys and girls lined up were pretty interesting people, definitely don't regret doing it. I think I'll line up again this year just for the experience. Probably have to show up even earlier though because I know I was pretty damn lucky last year. By store opening there was over a hundred people behind me.
