I never said it’d be a good thing. I said it would AMUSE me. I’m well aware it would cause massive problems for case makers.

It’d still make me laugh.
Fair enough, though I wouldn’t find it amusing. But I do sort of miss the days when we didn’t know much about what Apple would announce in advance.

Czechs already showed cased it in a video on very good dummies

Am I the only one who doesn’t mind a new iPhone without a case? At least for a week, that way your hands can get a feel for the new design.

Also, not all cases are created equally. Ensuring compatibility with charging devices should not be overlooked.

Plus, usually once the case goes on, it’ll likely never come off until a new case is desired.

Although you can’t blame those who feel they need a case first. With Apple’s notorious affinity for breaking quite easily and an expensive price tag it makes sense 🤷‍♂️ as for me my favorite cases are the silicone ones or an otter box/pelican case.
With AppleCare+, no case needed. Although going to aluminum, these are going to be destroyed with one drop. Sure a downside to aluminum over say titanium or steel.

I don't like the idea of the waste, but if you are mass producing items on what you THINK something is going to be without official word from the product manufacturer, that's on you. It's not  giving them bad measurements and then producing something else.
I actually just remembered this kind of happened with the iPhone 6 Plus. Which was rumour to be called the 6 Air.

I worked in a phone store and they had 6 Air printed in the box. We ended up receiving stickers to put over the Air name 😅

I know it won't happen, but I would totally LOVE if Apple presented completely different designs for their hardware just to show these people a big middle finger to them...

Guaranteed I will drop it without a case within a day or two. I use an otter box rubber case for the grip and I still manage to drop it a few times a year.

for the phone case, I always get a cheap one then wait half year before all the creative and reliable companies can come up with something solid and nice one then I would switch over to the new design.

My main reason for using a case is that the thick case make the phone lie flat on a surface.
The off-center camera bump is making the phone wobble whenever I poke it on a surface.

Im getting the 17 pro max but who’s getting excited about the same phone form factor since the iPhone 11? Nobody. The only thing people are “anticipating” is which recycled feature Apple will market as revolutionary this time. The next time Apple actually has an Awe moment with the iPhone won’t be until they finally drop a foldable. Until then? It’s the status quo slab we’ve all been carrying around for six years.
