Hi guys how could i import my full library to iCloud photo library?? I was trying to put all photos on the iphone and then see if them were uploaded but when i connect my iphone to itunes and go to photo section, it says that " iphone can access to iCloud photo library and images can be downloaded through wifi ..." so there is not the option to import photos from your computer as before. I can't understand! in this way we cannot import photos into our devices!! Am i wrong?:eek::eek:

This will be possible in Yosemite or the iCloud Drive windows app when they are available I think.

This all doesn't surprise me in the least. Photos does not seem ready for prime time.

What I wonder is, does Apple really expect us to put our entire library in the cloud? Mine is OVER a terabyte. Even if iCloud offered that much storage, it would spend so long uploading and many people have monthly transfer caps much lower than that!

I hope you can still transfer photos directly over USB or local wifi, or this is going to be a big problem for people with huge photo collections.

Here's the text from the Apple announcement; emphasis mine.

Pricing & Availability
iOS 8 will be available as a free software update starting Wednesday, September 17 for iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 2, iPad with Retina® display, iPad Air™, iPad mini™ and iPad mini with Retina display. New iCloud pricing includes 5GB free, 20GB $0.99/month, 200GB $3.99/month, 500GB $9.99/month and 1TB $19.99/month. Continuity features and iCloud Drive will be available on Macs running OS X Yosemite. In October, SMS Continuity will be available as a free update to iOS 8 and iCloud Photo Library will be available as a beta. Starting in October, with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple Pay™ will be available in the US as a free update to iOS 8. Features are subject to change. Some features may not be available in all regions or all languages.

And, yes, all references has been pulled from the iOS/iCloud informational webpages. My gut feeling tells me Apple realized iPhoto Library just wouldn't work out yet, because there would be no way to upload the photos to a Mac until Photos was released for the Mac (all photos would be on a server, not physically on the phone, so Image Capture wouldn't work).

Kind of a bummer they weren't able to somehow make it work on iPhoto/Aperture as a temporary transition, but oh well.

It does work with iPhoto/Aperture, the way it always has; you use iTunes to sync selected albums/photos from iPhoto/Aperture to the phone.

The downside is that everything is mixed together in the same view. I used to like the old way, where the Camera roll was separate and stuff synced from your Mac as in its own section.
