How do I clean install Yosemite if I'm already running Yosemite?
I want to sell my iMac and buy a new one. I have everything I need backed up.

You can format your drive and reinstall Yosemite from your recovery partition. You can do this by restarting your Mac and holding cmd + R during startup.

Just follow the steps at these two links. The second page talks about reinstalling Mavericks, but Yosemite works exactly the same way.

I think it’s best if you try again, since you do have access yo your recovery partition. Just follow these steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14243. It shouldn’t affect your recovery when you do this.
