How do I completely restore a Macbook Pro?

I have an early 2011 13" Macbook Pro, but I plan on purchasing a rMBP soon. How do I go about completely restoring and wiping everything from my MBP?

Use the system restore disc. One of the versions of OS X downloaded from the app store can accomplish this as well. Just make sure everything is backed up first.
