iPod touch How do I delete audiobooks from my iPod Touch?

I've been told to uncheck them when I sync, but they won't uncheck; they're not in the normal type, they're lighter, not as bold (pardon my ignorance to al lof this!). I've tried to swipe & delete, that doesn't work. Any ideas? Or am I doing something wrong?

When you have your iPod plugged in, and the summary screen comes up, click on the tab at the top that says Audiobooks. Unclick the box there that tells it to sync audiobooks (not at the mac right now, so can't give the exacts). Or is that where you say it is grayed out?
